Google Review Removal ACT
The ACT is small and closely connected, and that changes how a damaging Google review plays out. In a city where many residents know each other through work, schools and sport, one misleading review about a Belconnen clinic or a Woden café can travel further than its star rating suggests. Evelon Digital helps Canberra businesses assess negative reviews against Google's content policies and lodge properly documented reports.
We work with ACT businesses remotely from Sydney. We don't have a Canberra office. Everything is handled by phone and email.

Cities and areas serviced
Canberra is organised around town centres, and most of our ACT enquiries come from the areas below. Our Canberra page covers the city in more depth.
Civic and inner-north professional services, hospitality and health.
Young families and fast-growing suburbs relying on local trades and childcare.
A major town centre with retail, medical and university-adjacent services.
Phillip and the Woden Valley: health precinct, offices and established suburbs.
- Tuggeranong
Southern suburbs with family, trades and automotive businesses.
- Molonglo Valley
New suburbs such as Coombs and Denman Prospect with builders and new-home services.
Google Review Removal Assistance in the ACT
Canberra has a large public-sector workforce and a highly educated population, so reviews tend to be detailed and articulate. That works both ways. Genuine critical reviews here are often careful and specific, and very hard to challenge. Reviews written to cause harm can also look polished and credible. Telling the two apart takes a close reading and a comparison against your records.
We assess whether a review breaches Google's policies on fake engagement, conflicts of interest, harassment, personal information or off-topic content. Where it does, we explain the breach and support it with evidence. Where it doesn't, we say so before any work begins.
Review situations common in Canberra
- Reviews naming individual staff and sharing personal details, which is more noticeable in a small community where people are easy to identify.
- Disputes between neighbouring businesses in town-centre shopping precincts.
- New-home build and landscaping disputes in Molonglo Valley and Gungahlin turning into reviews from people who weren't the contracting party.
- Reviews about government policy, parking or local planning decisions that have nothing to do with the business reviewed.
- Former employee reviews in hospitality, childcare and health, where staff often move between a small number of employers.
ACT consumer and dispute context
In the ACT, consumer law is administered through Access Canberra, and the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) hears many civil and consumer disputes. If a reviewer has an open complaint or tribunal matter with your business, that relationship can be relevant to whether the review is a genuine customer experience.
We don't provide legal advice. Where a review may raise defamation or other legal issues, we recommend getting independent advice alongside any policy report.
Evidence that may assist ACT businesses
- Appointment or booking records showing no matching visit.
- Correspondence showing a reviewer is a former staff member, a contractor or connected to a competitor.
- Screenshots of personal details in the review, such as staff surnames, addresses or health information.
- Evidence that the review is about a planning, parking or government issue rather than your service.
- Records of a threat to post a bad review unless a demand was met.
Industries we assist across the ACT
Most Canberra enquiries come from professional and health services, childcare and education providers, hospitality around Braddon, Kingston and the town centres, and residential builders and trades in the newer districts. Our industry pages explain the review risks for each sector in more detail.
New, older, rejected and returned reviews
Fresh reviews are easiest to investigate, but older reviews remain eligible for assessment. Canberra businesses often contact us about a single review from years ago that still shapes first impressions. If a previous report was declined, or a removed review came back, we will look at whether a better-documented approach is justified.
All types of negative Google reviews we handle
Each review is assessed on its own content and evidence. A possible policy breach does not guarantee removal — Google makes the final decision.
- Fake and fabricated reviews
Reviews describing a visit, purchase or job that never happened.
- Unfair one-star reviews
Low ratings with no text, or a rating that doesn't match the experience described.
- Competitor reviews
Ratings that appear to come from a rival business or people connected to one.
- Former employee and contractor reviews
Reviews about employment, pay or a contract dispute rather than a customer experience.
- Conflict of interest reviews
Reviews from people with a personal or commercial stake in harming the business.
- Reviews from unidentified customers
Reviewers you cannot match to any booking, invoice or record.
- Abusive or threatening reviews
Harassment, slurs, threats or personal attacks on named staff.
- False and misleading allegations
Claims of illegality, fraud or unsafe practice that records contradict.
- Personal or commercial dispute reviews
Reviews posted as leverage in a dispute, debt or falling-out.
- Spam and promotional reviews
Links, advertising, repeated text or content unrelated to a real experience.
- Duplicate and coordinated reviews
Clusters of similar reviews posted in a short window, often from new accounts.
- Off-topic reviews
Commentary about politics, news, another business or anything but the experience.
- Reviews posted against the wrong business
Mistaken identity between similarly named or neighbouring businesses.
- Old negative reviews
Reviews 28 days old or more that still affect enquiries today.
- Recently posted negative reviews
Reviews under 28 days old, where acting early helps preserve evidence.
- Previously rejected removal requests
Reviews Google declined to remove after a first report.
- Reviews that have returned
Reviews that disappeared and were later reinstated.
