Yes — when the review breaches Google’s content policies. Google applies the same policies in the United Kingdom as everywhere else: reviews can be removed when the reviewer had no genuine experience, the review is fake or spam, or it contains abusive, harmful or private content. Google makes the final decision; our guarantee covers our removal fee, so for accepted cases you don’t pay the removal fee if the review is not successfully removed.
Reviews we can help challenge — and ones we can’t
Usually worth assessing
- Reviews from people who were never your customers
- Suspected fake reviews, including from competitors or former staff posing as customers
- Reviews meant for a different business with a similar name
- Abusive, threatening or discriminatory language
- Reviews that publish private details of you, your staff or customers
- Spam, promotional content and coordinated bursts of reviews
Usually not removable
- A real customer’s honest negative opinion of a real experience
- A low star rating simply because you disagree with it
- Reviews you want gone only because they hurt sales
Not sure which side your review falls on? That is exactly what the free assessment is for — we would rather tell you “no” honestly than take on a case we don’t believe in.
How Google review removal works for UK businesses
- 1
Send your enquiry
Use the form, call us or message us on WhatsApp. The review link is optional — you can send it or a screenshot later.
- 2
Free assessment
We check the review against Google’s policies and tell you honestly whether a realistic ground exists.
- 3
Written acceptance and quote
If the case qualifies, we confirm acceptance in writing and email pricing for your situation. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 4
Report and evidence
We prepare the report around the right policy ground, with supporting evidence, through Google’s own process.
- 5
Follow-through and updates
We keep you updated on the outcome. For accepted cases: no removal, no removal fee.
What “accepted case” means
Submitting a review for assessment does not automatically make it an accepted case. We assess every review first, and the Guaranteed Removal terms apply only once we have confirmed acceptance in writing, you have approved the pricing, and you have supplied the review links. That way, the guarantee only ever covers cases we genuinely believe qualify.
Fake and policy-violating reviews we see in the UK
Example scenarios only — included so you can recognise the patterns, not descriptions of actual clients.
The “customer” who never was
A one-star review from a name that appears nowhere in your bookings, orders or client records — often a competitor, a former member of staff or a mistaken business.
The review meant for another business
Your café in Manchester receives a review describing a venue in another city, or a business with a similar name. Wrong-business reviews can breach Google’s policies.
The sudden cluster
Several one-star reviews arrive within hours of each other, with no matching customers — a pattern consistent with a coordinated review attack.
The personal attack
A review naming a member of staff, publishing private details, or using abusive or threatening language rather than describing a genuine experience.
Fake reviews are taken seriously in the UK: the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 makes posting or commissioning fake reviews a banned practice — another reason it pays to deal with them properly rather than ignore them.
What Google removes — and what it doesn’t
Google removes reviews that breach its prohibited and restricted content policies. The grounds most often relevant to UK businesses are: fake engagement (reviews not based on a genuine experience), conflict of interest (including competitor and former-employee reviews), spam, offensive or abusive content, and the publication of private information.
What Google generally will not remove is an honest negative opinion from a real customer — even one you consider unfair. That is why the free assessment comes first: if your review sits on the wrong side of the policy line, we will tell you plainly rather than take your case on.
Google makes the final moderation decision on its own platform. Evelon’s guarantee is a commercial one: it covers our removal fee for accepted cases, never Google’s decision.
Please note: Removal does not guarantee permanent removal. Google may reinstate a review at its discretion. Evelon Digital does not control Google’s subsequent decisions.
